the power of film - and my "noob" blog post

I have said, in a critical tone, on more than one occasion, that I find bloggers monotonous. (with the exception of food bloggers. Food bloggers, don't stop! I am living through your gorgeous, oozing, shiny and greasy photos in utter bliss. WARNING I may feel inclined to post a few foodie pics, accept it and move on.) So there it is, I've said it, it's out there. I am embarking on this "blog" with any supporters I can gain along the way! Take my tid bits as they come, as you wish or do not wish. My hope is to highlight interesting stories, films and the filmmakers that are creating gorgeous, meaningful and original film. As it relates to documentary film these stories often tie into a great social issue and seek to bring change the these issues. I hope to do the same in creating a watering hole of information, legislation, script developments as a means to educate and spark your interests to follow up on these stories and issues at hand regardless of their impact because they may not affect you in any way. But if these issues produced into visual stories can play a role, even the tiniest role, in changing the dinner table discussion, promote active listening and inspire a call to action, that is all we can hope-that the public recognizes a need for change.

On a lighter note, I do hope to write about the films that capture my attention and find ways into my dreams that night. I love film and the power of storytelling regardless of genre. I hope you will follow along with me! I strive to write a fair mix of themes in documentary film, filmmakers, narrative film, festival news/acquisitions, film and business news. Bare with me if I start to blog about my life as a filmmaker or aspiring foodie status- I'm that guest at your dinner party, at the city's hottest sushi restaurant taking pictures of every sip and bite (discretely of course) and logging into the appropriate album on my iPhone. Cheers!

People ask me what I do for fun, in my spare time. I love film. I love watching film, reading and studying films of all genre. I find great inspiration from film, both narrative and documentary film. Story telling through film to recount history or a original, organic stories and characters through film give me inspiration in my own life and my work.
